Multi-Phasic Transformation Process®
from a Gestalt Perspective
(An Alternative Addiction Treatment Model)

Empowering excellent Clinicians to become
extraordinary Addiction/Recovery Professionals

About the program:

Gestalt Therapy bridges the gap between cognitive and behavioral therapies by also including the Bodymind, feelings, and emotions in its therapeutic approach to addiction treatment.

Gestalt Therapy illuminates and magnifies the individual’s awareness of “what is” and stresses present experience over “shouldism” and “aboutism”. This approach places importance on understanding a person’s behaviors in context of the environment/history and views coping mechanisms and resistances as creative adjustments to the stresses in life.

The Ten Multi-phasic Transformation Process® statements is ideally suited to the treatment of various kinds of addictions covering early pre-addicted developmental phases to full addiction and recovery and wholeness.

About the Multi-phasic Transformation Process © Model

The MPTP™ model allows for the greatest possible treatment needs in approaching individual differences by stressing the uniqueness of each client, considering his/her resiliency of the human spirit and personal integrity. The MPTP™ is eleven-phasic, overlapping, gender neutral and honed to rebuild neglected developmental needs required for recovery. It is relationship based and stresses empowerment to transform one's addictive life style. With this treatment approach awareness of “what is” in the personal, familial and social realm fosters personal response-ability for one’s self and others. Abstinence and/or reduction of addictive type behaviors are not dictated (as though we could) but emerge heuristically from this process. While this model acknowledges contributions of personal and familial histories in the context of time and place to the shaping of addictive experience and habits, examination of “how” each client continues to live “as if”, physical, relational, and emotional impasses are uncovered and worked with. This approach leads eventually to a deliberate, choiceful sobriety and lifestyle. Ten Awareness Statements and the Experience Cycle provide support and direction.

"I am a person who has both a personal and professional interest in the struggles of addiction recovery and the devastation addiction creates. Through Helga’s coaching, supervision and training programs Helga has introduced me to a truly 'non-traditional strength based' approach to addiction treatment and recovery. Through our work together I have develop a new way of viewing addiction in myself, and to the clients I work with. I no longer view addiction as a disease; I now understand that addiction is an overused 'creative adjustment' which has become a fixed way of living. This change in perception has given me a new freedom and outlook.

Helga’s non-traditional strength based view is refreshing and long overdue. I find her work non-judgmental and empowering and her style supportive. I find her insightful and compassionate with a depth of understanding into addiction second to none.

I am excited by the changes I am experiencing in my clients and myself. I am receiving positive feedback from my clients regarding their treatment outcomes and personal goals. I would highly recommend Helga’s work to anyone who wants to take the 'hit and miss' out of addiction treatment and recovery and anyone who wants to make real positive change."
