Transition 2009 – to New Year 2010

Here we are on the eve of 2009; acknowledging some major painful transition in the lives of many around the world professionally, personally and spiritually. We also want to celebrate their stamina embracing the challenges with courage and hope, perhaps not always graciously but imbued with determination and resilience. Well done! Congratulations also to many who successfully accomplished what they set out to achieve. After all, transitions are all about change and change for better or worse usually are not easy or smooth; else we couldn’t be proud of succeeding.

Transition 2009 – 2010 – Personal Reflections

Up to this point I was reluctant to review this past year; it seemed somehow inappropriate for me to do so while I was still in the process of living it. Today, however, I am ready. I spent a good amount of time last night reviewing (instead of sleeping) and I am proud to report some major successes resulting from daring to challenge myself. First I had to fully own that I am simply incapable of doing and being everything – no small task for someone like me. The major changes occurred when I gave up my imagined omnipotence and found instead resources who could get me on the right path. They were so important that I want to mention them individually. Aly Greenstreet who re-designed my new web page with infinite patience, Karyn Greenstreet who taught me the business end of it (or tries to) and is my able and willing coach in these areas (she once lovingly commented on my business acumen that yes, I am a business woman, a Donald Trump I am not!). Angee Robertson, my invaluable V.A., who is still holding my hand almost daily attempting to help me understand social networking etc. among many other tasks. And Lisa Kramer, my very able and supportive life coach. I thank them all and hope that they get as much joy in helping me as I have in implementing their ideas. And, of course, I thank my family and friends whose constant support I could not be without.

Yet, I didn’t really plan any of the above; I allowed myself to feel the restlessness of my soul that was dissatisfied because I could not live my life mission and passion – to make a discernable difference in people’s lives who wanted a better life experience. I also like to reach out cross culturally, and my message did not reach beyond the borders; it does now.

Now to 2010. What do I want to achieve, where do I want to be at the end of this year? I don’t know specifically. I am healthy, enthusiastic, energetic, curious, I am passionate about the well being of human beings and I trust and hope; I know my limitations and frailties as well as my brilliance and strengths. To such personal blessings and wealth, I add powerful, yet undefined intentions. I believe that our third daughter, Michele, said it best in a poem she wrote for my husband and me and all parents of her graduating class from high school in 1977:

“You have sung your songs to me throughout the seasons of my birth
But the wondrous depth of the sky whispers its beckoning tune.
Awakened now …..
I must leave to seek my own flight and sing my own songs to you.”

In this spirit I want to acknowledge that I will continue to grow soulfully in connection with all of you; I trust that this process will guide me from now into nextness throughout the year 2010. Until then, stay well and be joyful.

So, how about you?

Some thoughts that may help if you have not already considered them:

    • Life is change, change is challenging
    • Listen to yourself, quietly, non-judgmentally
    • We have a Soul – called Psyche ever since the Greeks realized it (even Papa Freud used it in all his original writings)
    • The beauty of living is its unpredictability, unknowably, full of the unexpected
    • It cannot be planned, forced to happen, is realized only the moment it happens
    • We are who and how we are
    • We are students learning to live life with all our strengths and frailties in a co-created context in the environment.

If you have any questions regarding the thoughts above, I would be happy to assist you to create a value-based life that truly works for you, one that holds the potential to unleash energy and excitement, creating possibilities toward fulfilling your potential. Please feel free to contact me.
